Windhoek is Namibia’s capital city. Because it’s located pretty much in the centre of the country, it’s a great starting point for touring itineraries. We recommend spending a night here to get over your flight, collect your 4x4 and get to grips with it before you hit the open road.
The city centre is surprisingly modern, with an urban buzz and real sense of energy. That said, you’ll still find German-style buildings and traditional craft markets. (Not forgetting the locally brewed Windhoek lager.)
