Think Africa in the movies and you’re almost there: endless grasslands, acacia trees and epic sunsets.
Madikwe is home to the Big Five, wild dogs and cheetahs. It’s also malaria free, so if you’re travelling with kids, they won’t need to take tablets.

Federal Air operate daily flights between Johannesburg and Madikwe. The flight takes about an hour. Alternatively it is a 4-5 hour road transfer from Johannesburg Airport.
You can go to Madikwe throughout the year. In their greener summer months of October to April you might experience afternoon rains and thunder showers, however these are usually brief (and a relief) and don’t usually affect your safari. In winter months from May to September the earth is dry and scorched and animals are easier to spot. The days are lovely and hot, with crystal blue skies, but the temperatures do plummet at night.
