If you’re looking for a slightly slower paced safari, we recommend Laikipia. It’s a vast patchwork of private ranches, wildlife conservancies and small farms which encompasses the entire area north of Nanyuki to Isiolo.
The setting, against the backdrop of Mount Kenya, is absolutely lovely. And the landscape, a riot of acacia-decked hills and dramatic gorges, is truly mesmerising. Aside from game viewing, there are lots of activities to try including horse riding, archery, mountain biking – and even camel trekking.
