At Sirikoi, you really get the feeling it’s a light footprint camp – ask to see their Shamba vegetable garden and you’ll see what we mean.

It’s a family-run lodge in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, on the northern slopes of Mount Kenya. And it’s the kind of place where you can really feel at one with nature. The grounds might be well manicured, but the animals come pretty close to the low fence. We took tea in the lounge and watched the wildlife while we sipped.

Ask Sue Roberts to make you some Turmeric Tea. I couldn't get over how delicious this was as I sat and watched the watering hole. I returned from Kenya on a mission to find some fresh turmeric but nothing tasted as good as Sirikoi's tea.
